Make Sterling on the Lake Golf Cart Friendly

The City of Flowery Branch does not have an ordinance to address Golf Cart usage on public roads.  A State Law went into effect Jan. 1, 2013 that creates a separate classification of personal transportation vehicles for golf carts. It also sets standards for towns and counties wanting to create ordinances allowing drivers to use the carts on residential streets and multi-purpose pathways. The law requires that golf carts have braking systems, a reverse warning device, tail lamps, a horn and hip restraints.

The purpose of this petition is to urge the Mayor Mike Miller and City Council of the City of Flowery Branch develop and implement an ordinance, similar to those in the 23 other Georgia cities, that allows for the safe use of golf carts on public roads within the SOTL community.  The state law even allows the city to charge a fee.

Twenty-three other cities have found a way to make this work, we need to in Flowery Branch.
