Have a full public consultation on traffic solutions for Brunstane Road
Why this petition matters
We would like a full, comprehensive public consultation on the traffic solutions required for Brunstane Road and the so-called Joppa Triangle. We would like to see a wider demographic of residents and business owners in Portobello consulted on the closure or alteration of traffic patterns on Brunstane Road.
Closing the road will have a huge impact on the residents of Brunstane, Milton Road, the Coillesdenes and Joppa, as well as the wider community of Portobello, and will prevent the free flow of traffic into Portobello. This will impact local businesses and access to school, nursery and health services. It is likely to have the effect that people take their business elsewhere.
We would like a full Portobello-wide consultation with residents of Brunstane, Joppa and Portobello surveyed about the full range of solutions, including making the street one way, building passing places into the street, erecting a height restriction barrier at the bridge, as well as closure of the road.
We would also like a full impact assessment of the impact any changes made would have on Coillesdenes. The previous assessment was undertaken in October, when Brighton Place was still closed: we feel the situation is different now that it has reopened and we would like this fully assessed before any ETRO is implemented and Brunstane Road closed and one way systems installed in the Coillesdenes. We would also like a report on how the traffic lights at the bottom of Milton Road would be changed to manage any changes proposed.
We would like these things done before the road is closed .
