STOP THE DEMOLITION OF THE OLD BIBB CO JAIL
The Bibb Co Jail was built in 1910 in Centreville, AL. The jail remained active until 2002 when it was closed. The last public execution was held there on 3/25/1949. In 2007 it was listed by the Alabama Historic Commission as one the 10 most endangered historic properties. It is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The architecture is stunning. There is a report on file that the building is structurally sound. The city is planning on demolishing this historical landmark for a parking lot! We have got to stop this from happening! This property is rich in history. Surely that is worth much more than a parking lot in a small town? Please help me get the officials in the city of Centreville, AL to renovate this property instead of destroying it.
