Tara Fisher started this petition to City of Casey and

To the City of Casey

We, the undersigned residents, petition council and ask that fencing be put around Thornley Drive Reserve, Berwick to make this location more user friendly for residents, their children and their dogs.

Currently the playground area is fenced but the park itself is not. The roads surrounding this location are becoming increasingly busy and as such is posing a risk to those utilising this park.

This location is used by many to walk, play social / school sports, do training exercises and to exercise / socialise their dogs.

The closest fenced dog park is at Selandra Rise and the fenced area is too small for dogs to get a proper run. The tree area at the back end/behind the playground (please refer map attached) of Thornley Reserve would be perfect for a dog park as it already has lots of trees and a good amount of space for dogs to get a run and play.

The City of Casey Facebook page recently announced that 2 new dog parks would be created in Hallam and Narre Warren South. The post also stated there would be “more dog friendly spaces planned across Casey”. We would like Thornley Drive Reserve to be one of these.

In summary, we are asking council for fencing around the entire park area and also for a dedicated fenced area for dogs. Having this area fenced would provide a safe space for the above mentioned events to take place.

Thank you
