City of Calgary: Build a noise barrier north of Glenmore Trail-Mike Ralph Way SW
This petition made change with 177 supporters!
A noise / sound barrier was supposed to be completed by the developer of the community in 2009, but the City of Calgary assumed the responsibility to complete construction. The community has been on the Noise Barrier Retrofit Program list since 2010. Many of the area residents were informed that construction would be completed by 2011. The list was updated by the City of Calgary in January 2013 and the area is now currently fifth (5) on the list, which likely means several more years before the noise/sound barrier is completed. Numerous calls have been made to the Ward 11 Councillor (Brian Pincott) & The City of Calgary by residents over the last several years with false promises.
This is important to the residents of Garrison Green for the following reasons:
· Safety – Recently, there was a near miss incident when a tire landed in a neighbour’s yard after it came off a westbound vehicle on Glenmore – only minutes after the children were taken inside
·Level of noise coming from the traffic on Glenmore Trail makes it difficult to carry on a conversation with friends or neighbors
·Our back fences have been full of graffiti and the garbage that collects is atrocious because the city has neglected to maintain this area
· Many of the area residents are unable to complete landscaping projects in their backyards
