Bring back the Metrotown overhead walkway

The closure of the overhead walkway to Metrotown skytrain station back in November of 2016 has not only been inconvenient but disruptive on a daily basis. Shoppers in Metropolis Mall and workers in the three office towers now have to cross Central Blvd at street level. Currently, flaggers are used daily to ensure people cross safely.

A replacement walkway or "passerelle" was not part of the construction of the new Metrotown Skytrain station because the property does not belong to Translink. The current timeline for a replacement is as follows:

"Burnaby, Translink, and Metropolis are working together to design and build a new elevated walkway. Conceptual design is anticipated to begin this year [2018] with construction likely to occur in 2020. The entire plan is subject to Burnaby City Council approval."

Four years with no walkway if frankly unacceptable. We would like to see a firm plan in place, in a timely manner, to replace the walkway in advance of the proposed timeline.
