Tiffany Kim started this petition to City of Bellaire

As a resident of the city of Bellaire and a loving dog owner, I am disappointed in the lack of pet waste stations in the neighborhood. I firmly believe that pet owners are responsible for picking up after their pet, not only as a courtesy to neighbors but as a safety precaution for other pets and residents. Leaving pet waste behind on people’s lawns is something I see all around the neighborhood and is beginning to be a big issue. I’m sure we are all tired of either seeing dog waste on our lawns or pulling our pets away from it on walks.

Pet waste can carry viruses, bacteria, and parasites harmful to humans and other animals. Dog waste has the potential to spread those unhealthy bugs to adults and children. Parasites such as roundworm, tapeworms, and a variety of bacteria and viruses that can cause flu-like systems, or worse, can be spread by pets, most often through their waste. Additionally, dog waste is more likely to kill a lawn or garden than help it grow.

The one and only pet waste station that I am aware of was at the corner of Holly and S. Rice has been removed and there is no telling when it will be reinstalled. Even if the city decides to put it back, I would like the residents of Bellaire to encourage the city to provide more pet waste stations around the neighborhood. I highly believe that this will encourage fellow pet owners to pick up after their pets and safely dispose of it. Please join me in this petition to eliminate the problem of left behind pet waste on our lawns.
