Subject: City Zoning By-Law 720, Chapter 5.4.2: “A container is prohibited throughout the territory of the City of Beaconsfield for a main or ancillary building.”

R.P.M Autotech Inc. is a family-run business that has been part of the Beaurepaire Village since May 2001. Since then, we have gained a very loyal clientele because of our honesty and quality service.

A very important part of the service of our clients’ off-season tires. We have had two containers on our property for the past twelve years for that exact purpose. We have never had any complaints from our neighbors, nor did we ever receive any notices from the city regarding the breach of the zoning by-law.

On March 14,2019, we received a notice by registered letter from the City of Beaconsfield, Urban Planning Department, informing us that we are in breach of the zoning by-law. The letter also stated that the containers must be removed by May 1st, 2019.

We immediately contacted our district city councillor to ask why, after so many years, the zoning by-law has been enforced. We were informed that another local business with whom the City has an ongoing legal dispute also has two containers on its property and was told to remove them. Therefore, we have come to understand that because of this legal dispute, the City is now enforcing the zoning by-law.

While explaining this situation to our clients, they informed us that they have seen other containers throughout the city. We took it upon ourselves to check the accuracy of this information and found this to be true. We saw containers on the property of other small businesses like ours, a local elementary school, and most surprisingly, they City of Beaconsfield Public Works yard.

We would like your support in helping us obtain a permit to keep the two containers so that we can continue to offer our clients (many of them seniors) a service high in demand. if we can no longer offer this service, many of our clients will have to find alternate ways to store their tires in the off-season’s.

Please support our small family-run business by signing this petition.

Thank you.
