City of Ashland: Support bike & ped friendly transportation - Keep the road diet!
This petition made change with 507 supporters!
Do you believe in bike-friendly urban planning? Do you want to see Ashland prioritize pedestrians and cyclists? Ask the City to make its trial "Road Diet" on North Main a permanent part of our community!
Forward thinking city planners made big changes to the north end of our community by changing the congested, accident prone four lane highway out of town into a two lane+ boulevard with new bikelanes. This change, known as the "road diet," allows motorists to use a central turning lane rather than blocking traffic to make left turns, and it also gives cyclists a dedicated place to ride.
The city took feedback on this issue at: http://www.ashland.or.us/Page.asp?NavID=13461#peak_democracy. Unfortunately, their system was a little time-consuming and some people may have been too busy to weigh in. This petition is a chance for Ashlanders to show their representatives and city staff that WE VALUE BIKE and PED FRIENDLY PLANNING and we want to see even more of it.
Let's support our city staff in making progressive, green city planning the norm in our community.
