Do not build a gas station near Meadow View Elementary School
A gas station is proposed for construction immediately across from Meadow View Elementary School on Smokey Road in Alabaster, AL. This poses a significant safety risk to the staff and students of the school. The playground will be immediately across the street and down an embankment from the station. The station will increase the likelihood of auto accidents in front of the school with playing children very close by. Increased numbers of fuel tankers frequenting the station and the stations own storage of fuel pose substantial risk to the school. Alcohol and tobacco products will undoubtedly be sold at the station during school hours; a fact that should have invalidated the proposal from the start. Smokey Road is extremely congested in front of the school before and after school. Adding a business will obviously exacerbate the traffic issue. With more subdivisions to come to Smokey Road we do not need anything to increase traffic or cause safety hazards in proximity to the school. Please help stop this terrible proposal from moving forward.
