Tresa Curtis started this petition to City of Denison City Mayor, City Manager, City Council and

We have lost 32 firefighters in two year with possibly 6 more leaving. Our chief and assistant chief have been retaliating against these men because they don’t agree with decisions. These men refuse to listen and even our city officials won’t listen to these Firefighters nor the citizens of Denison, Texas. We are in critical need of experienced Firefighters. We lost so many with years of dedicated service. I am asking you to sign this petition so we can get our officials to listen to the concerns of the citizens and protect our Firefighters from retaliation.

If these men don’t agree they are either forced into retirement, forced to resign or put on admin leave. This isn’t just a few! When you lose 32 firefighters that alone should make people understand it wasn’t about the money, it was about leadership. Many of these men wanted to stay for our community because they wanted to protect the community we live in.

Because of this issue we aren’t protected well enough as citizens. Having the majority of our dept as rookies is dangerous. We need experienced Firefighters and EMS. We need everyone to stand up. If not this won’t change. Retaliation will continue against these men. We will lose more. Many that are still there are in fear for their jobs. If they stand up they are next to go.

Please sign this petition so that maybe our officials will listen to not only the firefighters but the concerned citizens of our community. It takes more than one person. We have a lot of citizens fighting for these men and we are getting nowhere. I have tried to get these Firefighters help and for our city to stand up but it’s going to take a lot of us. Please, I ask that you help defend these men.
