I W started this petition to City Hall of Rochester and

<bottom>On August 18th, 2020, the City Council of the city of Rochester voted to fund a new police station which costs $12,600,000 ($12.6 Million) in bonds to build...

The goal of this police station is to “improve police-community relations by having more stations in more neighborhoods.”

Here is why this is counterproductive:

  • The homes along the street of the new station are being torn down to create it, w/ no plans of reparations for the residents
  • My city already has tensions with the RPD & has a history of police brutality, including the case of Daniel “Rell” Prude
  • The Rochester City School District is already in need of at least $10M for lack of funding
  • There are already 5+ stations existing in our 37-square-mile city

Please save us. America is not only #1 in amount of police, but #1 in crime rates. Which proves that, to reduce crime, funding like this must go towards rehabilitation processes such as drug rehab, mental-illness treatment, services for the homeless, etc. or even reform in the police system.

Filling a city brutalized by police with more police is counter-intuitive, oppressing, & authoritarian.
