We Support Housing For Working Families!
The Community Builders, Inc. is proposing to redevelop the blighted, abandoned former Leonard Hospital into 120 unit mixed-income, energy efficient apartments in Troy, NY. TCB has a track record of developing and maintaining quality affordable housing for communities of different income levels.
We support this project because it will revitalize the existing abandoned landscape and address the affordable housing shortage in the City.
The development will be subject to real property taxes or a PILOT, putting the parcel back on the municipal and school tax rolls.
Leonard Hospital, in the northern edge of Lansingburgh neighborhood of Troy, has been vacant for over a decade. The property is dilapidated and surrounded by vacant, overgrown land. It has been an eyesore to the city and a target for vandalism and accidents.
Equipped with a modern security system and managed by trained personnel, Leonard redevelopment will alleviate the urban disorders that have reportedly pressured the City’s liability over the past 10 years. It will also improve the overall look and feel of the neighborhood and, consequently, reduce public safety costs.
We ask that Troy City Council support this project.
