Peter Jones started this petition to City Council of Ruston

The City of Ruston has targeted the former restaurant building, known as Sarah's Kitchen, located at 609 Lee Avenue, for demolition using grant funds that the city has received. The restaurant was operated from 1986 to 1999 by Sarah Albritton, Ruston’s well-known cook and self-taught painter. It was maintained by Albritton until her death in November 2020.  The building, designed to echo an unpainted house from the 1930s era, is structurally sound, and the family would like to preserve it in order to tell the story of Albritton's life.  For more information see https://lincolnparishjournal.com/2021/06/09/fate-of-sarahs-kitchen-building-postponed/

We, the undersigned Northside residents, Northside property owners, the Ruston Community, North Louisiana communities, and parishes, stand with the Robert and Sarah Albritton family in the preservation of 609 Lee Street, in Ruston, Louisiana, known as Sarah’s Kitchen.  Do not allow history to be erased.  Let us save and preserve our community landmark.
