Jessica Wellington started this petition to City Council of Columbus Ohio

To the City of Columbus,

We are petitioning to add a statue in front of Columbus Police Department depicting clearly and easily read from a distance, the department's Code Of Ethics.

These code of ethics are supposed to be the cornerstone in which the police department operates, and is important for our police to see every time that they enter or leave their department building.

Right now in our current climate with police brutality being at the forefront of the current protests, both as the subject of the protests and the actions being taken to protesters by our local police, we feel as though this statue will provide a strong and permanent reminder of how the police and the department are to conduct themselves with the public.

We feel that many officers are having a hard time remembering their code of ethics and performing their duties along those lines and this statue will provide a permanent reminder that we the people know their code and that they should always follow them both while on and off duty.
