To stop or table the new zoning proposal that harms local restaurants.

This petition had 103 supporters

We feel it is important to stop the current new proposal that would put a stop to entertainment of all kinds after midnight inside bars and restaurants within 400 feet of a residential area. If this proposal is accepted, this would mean that no live or recorded music (like jukeboxes), no karaoke, no comedians, no playing pool, no skeeball, or other entertainment-related activities after midnight.

This change only affects the businesses outside the 277-loop; uptown businesses will be exempt. This means that locally owned, neighborhood businesses will not be able to offer entertainment inside their establishments after midnight and will subsequently loose patrons and profits. This will decrease the tax revenue from these businesses that are affected and will cost many local residents their jobs.

We work hard to have a good relationship with our neighbors and with our neighborhood and we feel that there is a better solution to this zoning issue than this proposal and are asking that people petition their city council representatives to stop or table this proposal until a better solution can be reached!
