Reject Commercial Development and proposed Gas Station in the Village of Stave Falls

We, the residents of Stave Falls, a sub-district of the municipality of the City of Mission, BC, petition the city to reject the proposal to re-zone property 29684 Dewdney Trunk Road from Rural 16 to Comprehensive Development; allowing for the installment of a gas station, convenience store and, at a later date, a recycling center.
· We do not agree that any individual should have the right to purchase a residential property adjacent to other residential properties to install a large commercial development that directly impacts and degrades the quality of life of nearby properties and established residents;
· This specific property borders, and sits at a higher elevation than, a natural wildlife thoroughfare that contains protected year-round creeks and streams that is home to endangered species such as the Oregon Forest Snail, the Oregon Spotted Tree Frog; and at-risk species such as the Western Screech Owl;
· We believe that adding a four-way intersection at this location in addition to the gas station, as proposed, will drastically increase the number of car accidents due to an increase in traffic from individuals unfamiliar with our unique road system.
