Following the devastating fire that destroyed the Grenfell Tower in Kensington, London, the victims found themselves homeless and reliant on emergency "housing" which included being found shelter in nearby hotels. One of these was the "Holiday Inn" in Gloucester Road. Yet, just a week later, these victims have been dealt another devastating blow, by being told that they are no longer welcome at the hotel. The council made this statement, “The Holiday Inn Gloucester Road was unable to continue accommodating 30 households due to previous bookings and we are deeply sorry for the manner in which the families had been informed of the need to move them.” Despite being "offered" alternative accommodation, this is the most disgusting treatment of individuals and families who have already suffered the most appalling trauma, including for some, the loss of loved ones. It surely cannot, in the light of these most extenuating circumstances, witnessed worldwide, have been beyond the realms of possibility for the hotel to have shown compassion, and made alternative arrangements for their OTHER bookings and allow the Grenfell victims to remain, so preventing further upheaval. The HOLIDAY INN has demonstrated that along with the local council and government who have already failed these people in the most appalling way, they have no compassion or sympathy for their plight. Clearly, for them, business comes before people. The people therefore need to show that PEOPLE COME FIRST, and demonstrate this in the way it will hurt them most. BOYCOTT HOLIDAY INNS ACROSS THE UK.
