In a time when the city of Dayton was in mourning, Ohio District 53 State Representative (and Ohio Senator hopeful) Candice Keller chose to go to facebook and not bring the communities together as an elected official should, but spew hate and blame. Furthering the divide not only in the Dayton area, but in the country.

Her comments placed blame on the LGBT Community, Single mothers, public schools, CBD users, amongst others. In a time where most Americans would rather chop off their own arm than have a conversation with someone they disagree with, the blame and negativity she chose to spew furthered the near-impossible action of us coming together as Americans.

Not as members of our individual parties, but as Americans.

From the Cincinnati Enquirer: Her comments drew the ire of Republicans and Democrats alike. And on Monday afternoon, Ohio Republican Party Chairwoman Jane Murphy Timken called for Keller's resignation.

“While our nation was in utter shock over the acts of violence in El Paso and Dayton, Republican State Representative Candice Keller took to social media to state why she thought these acts were happening," Timken said in a statement. "Candice Keller’s Facebook post was shocking and utterly unjustifiable. Our nation is reeling from these senseless acts of violence and public servants should be working to bring our communities together, not promoting divisiveness. I'm calling on Candice Keller to resign.” - Published ET Aug. 5, 2019

The statement made by the Ohio Republican Party Chairwoman was a first for her, having never called for the resignation of anyone since taking over the role in 2017. Butler County Democratic Party Chairman Brian Hester also said Keller is unfit to hold her office, telling the Dayton Daily News that the state lawmaker “loves to fan the flames and play the role of victim here, not the nine people who were killed. She is an embarrassment to her party, to conservatives, to Butler County and to the state Legislature.”

Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones (an outspoken Trump supporter) also called for Keller to resign on Monday. He said, "It’s very embarrassing. She doesn’t represent the people in her community with those comments," Jones told The Enquirer. "She’s made a laughingstock out of Butler County, which is a shame."

However, Keller is not obligated to resign from the Ohio House of Representatives and shows no signs of doing so. Ohio lawmakers can be voted out of office or removed from their position if they are convicted of a felony. Another less-used method in the Ohio Constitution allows for the removal of a lawmaker via a vote of two-thirds of the Ohio House of Representatives.

Therefor, this petition is a call on a vote in the Ohio House of Representatives to have Candice Keller removed immediately. A rare and almost never used piece of the Ohio Constitution, the only way it will happen is if the people of Ohio (Republicans and Democrats alike) demand this vote and demand their state representatives vote to have her removed.

Ms Keller has made minimal statements since her remarks, one of them being a response to Timken's call of resignation with a statement: "Establishment moderates have never been fans of mine because I ran against their endorsement and won. As the only conservative in this race, I will be taking my Senate campaign to the voters to decide."

Let the voters decide before this bigoted, racist, homophobe has the opportunity to do her run for State Senate. The people of Ohio are good people and shouldn't be represented by monsters looking for their 15 minutes of fame.

Thank you for your time and I hope you choose to agree.
