Revolutionary Greeting,

Blue for the River Nile. Blue for the martyrs of our revolution.

Yellow for the Sahara Desert. Yellow for our natural resources.

Green for the Farmlands. Green for growth and prosperity.

A symbol of SUDANISM, a tricolour embracing and celebrating our diversity that the land of Sudan is home to. One that recognises the ethnic, cultural, and religious plurality of Sudan and calls for a uniquely Sudanese identity that acknowledges all,
inherently opposed to divisiveness and separatism.

This was the first flag of Sudan upon independence from Egypt and the United Kingdom on 1 January 1956. This flag was carried by the protesters of the Nile Spring, the peaceful protests that started in December 2018 as a symbol of an independent Sudan, as it was carried from 1954 as a symbol of popular revolution. 

The shift of color from the current flag to the original flag symbolizes the change we’re headed into! A new Sudan. A civilian-led Sudan. A Sudan we will rebuild together.

       رمزا للسودانوية، وهي الالوان الثلاثة التي تحتفي بتنوعنا الذي تعد أرض السودان موطنا له.  موطنا واحدا يتميز بالتعددية العرقية والثقافية والدينية. ويدعو إلى هوية سودانية فريدة تضم، بطبيعتها الجميع وتنبذ الانقسام والانفصالية.              
كان هذا أول علم للسودان بعد الاستقلال عن مصر والمملكة المتحدة في1 يناير1956 . وقد حمل هذا العلم من قبل                     متظاهري ربيع النيل، الاحتجاجات السلمية التي بدأت في ديسمبر2018  كرمز للسودان المستقل ،لأن تم حمله من                                                             عام1954 كرمز للثورة الشعبية.
