William Frentz started this petition to Citizens of Pewee Valley and

Rosswoods Drive is a residential street where many families live with children. As there are no sidewalks; we walk, run, and bike on this road. This road was paved in the 1970s, long before the recent consumer trend of buying larger trucks/SUVs which are considerably more dangerous for pedestrians. The standard for new neighborhood developments today are to have sidewalks on both sides of the road.

The descending nature of the street (when driving from Central Ave) makes vehicles pick up speed quicker than what the driver may realize. This puts any pedestrian on the road in great danger as there is no stop sign or any method to reduce speed. The City of Pewee Valley employs one police officer, this officer simply cannot allocate their time to enforcing the speed limit on any one road. The simplest and most effective way to reduce speed of drivers is to install a rubber speed hump (not a speed bump). There is no electrical or maintenance involved with a speed hump. Installing a sidewalk would be much more expensive.

We propose this speed hump be installed between Central Ave and the stop sign at the corner of Rosswoods and Ridgewood. A traffic study would be needed to determine the best location for the speed bump(s). This reduction of speed will make the road safer for everyone in Pewee Valley who enjoy strolling or biking in our neighborhood. Our kids deserve a safe road to ride their bicycles on without their parents having to worry constantly about speeding cars. Thank you for ensuring the safety of pedestrians.
