Fairway Neighbours Unite for a Livable Langford

Fairway Neighbours Unite for a Livable Langford

We, the citizens of Langford protest the proposed development at 647 Goldstream Ave. because the project is out of scale with the size of the neighbourhood, and the infrastructure is not adequate to support it.
Fairway Ave. is too narrow a street without sidewalks and parking is already an issue. TWO 11-storey apartment towers of 224 units would add a density that would add to the existing traffic congestion problems on Goldstream Ave. Pedestrian safety would be threatened.
We want Langford City Hall to regulate the scale of the proposed development to fit within existing structure heights of 4 stories, which is the current maximum height in the 600 block of Goldstream and Fairway Avenues.
We believe that ample green space and adequate building setback from the street is essential to the preservation of our neighbourhood.
We want to be involved in this zoning process and to see the plans which Design Build Services are withholding from public scrutiny. Our concern is heightened because of the empty 11-storey building, Danbrook One, built by Design Build Services - which had its occupancy permit revoked when it was deemed unsafe due to the way it was built.
