Raise the qualifications to be a legislator in the Parliament of India
Why this petition matters

In light of recent events such as the Undemocratic Suppression of Dissent in the Indian Capital, Demonetization of currency and the introduction of GST making the Indian economy wretched, dissemination of politics predicated upon discrimination nestled in religious and historical identities, and the suspension of Human Rights by the Police under executive orders from the Government, the people of India have lost faith in the Government and have despaired that the Constitution has not worked. The Constitution does not work. It has to be worked by us. We are the "Bharata Bhagya Vidhata" in our National Anthem-The Dispenser of India's Destiny.
This is a point where the road forks into resignation to tyranny and a revival of the true decree of India's foundation. The first step towards revival is a Constitutional Amendment pertaining to the qualifications required to be a legislator in the Indian Parliament. As it is one of the highest offices in the State, it affects every aspect of every citizen's life, but many people exercising this office have not even completed schooling and most of them have a criminal backlog. This petition aims to initiate an amendment to the Constitution of India which will require a legislator to have at least 3 years of full time university education, competence in Law and Economics certified by the UPSC, at least 5 years of experience in the Civil Services and an absolutely clean criminal record.
I would like you to know that this is nothing new. History tells us that Democracies at such crossroads of Destiny survived only when their Sovereign mandated an educated and competent class of legislators for themselves. Otherwise, those Democracies lost their essential character at the hands of demagogues. So, let us make Satyameva Jayate a living reality in this land by pressing on for better legislators, because the alternative is not conducive for Liberty, Freedom and the Flourishing of Human Beings.
