Citizens of Fort Mcmurray,

This petition is to bring to your attention gross injustice against your elected official Councillor Dogar. He was alleged by Mayor Sandy Bowman of hate speech and racist remarks . He literally quoted Dogar as saying that indigenous "come to town to get drunk, fight and get into legal trouble”. This statement is a total lie! Councillor Dogar was highlighting differences between geographical differences in rural areas vs urban areas and how that could be a contributing factor in increased deaths in rural area. He choose to give example based on his past experience as a cab driver. Somehow this triggered Sandy Bowman to issue a press release denouncing Councillor Dogar as ‘racist’ and ‘hateful’. Mayor Sandy Bowman alleged Dogar without looking at the video evidence or giving a chance to clarify Dogar’s comment and publicly humiliated him. Councillor Dogar has served the community for last 15 years and his volunteerism and community service is exemplary. Mayor Bowman tarnished all of that with his character assassination and misleading information to citizens of Fort Mcmurray. There are multiple safety threats made against Councillor Dogar and alot of his closest allies have abandoned due to incorrect labelling and characterisation by Mayor  Mayor should immediately issue a public apology and acknowledge his erroneous way of handling the whole situation. This speaks to lack of integrity in Mayor’s actions.
