Dr. NaQuindra Brooks started this petition to Citizens of Clarke County Alabama

In Clarke County's municipal elections, citizens who live outside the city limits of towns such as Jackson and Grove Hill are not allowed to vote. We find this very unsettling as these citizens are mostly from unincorporated communities who don't have their own municipalities. Even though these unincorporated communities, for the most part, have Jackson and Grove Hill addresses, they are still not allowed to cast their votes in their local elections since they are outside of the city or town limits.

Most of these unincorporated communities are African-American/Black. In addition to this, it is these unincorporated communities that drive the local economy of Jackson, Grove Hill and other municipalities within Clarke County. So without the revenue pulled in from these communities, these local townships and cities would suffer greatly financially. So, how is that these areas keep local municipalities thriving economically, but the citizens in these areas aren't allowed to have their voices heard in the local municipal elections? We call for a complete cease of this gerrymandering to benefit certain political parties and their constituents and make this fair for ALL!
