As hundreds of millions of dollars leave Canada every winter in the form of travel south to other countries, economic opportunities are lost. In a scenario which would be beneficial to both Canada and Cuba, the government of the latter would be presented with a proposal which would be seek to allow Canada to essentially buy said islet. Cuba could receive a royalty in perpetuity for the agreement. Thousands of Canadians would then have access to a winter or year round home, where their dollars would largely remain in the Canadian economy. The island would become a carbon neutral paradise, a far cry from its current reliance on diesel generators for power. Cubans would still work on the island as part of the deal, as well as imports from said nation embraced. Sign this petition to support a grand idea of massive economic and environmental proportions, which would only strengthen and benefit the citizens of both countries.
