Mayor Mike Coffman has failed miserably to meet the Aurora populace’s needs for safety, security and liberty under his watch. He has neglected to manage the police force in a manner that provides discipline and accountability. He has remained silent during the nearly year-long cover up of the Elijah McClain murder by police. He has needed millions of concerned citizens nationally and the Colorado Governor and AG to do the job he failed to do - request an independent investigation of the murder. Mayor Coffman has failed to respond appropriately to righteous anger and sadness following the death and instead of listening to the people’s protests, his police force tear-gassed and beat the protesters. His response to the police brutality involved building a fence around the city hall and PD and declaring everything a “learning experience”. It is not time for him to learn. It is not time for him to hide behind a fence. It is time for him to resign.
