The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville are trying to sell a 500+ acre piece of property in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal, called ED-19, to an Ottawa-based company to operate a private landfill. The original environmental study was completed and approved in 1997. This means that the landfill would be opened and operated based on 25+ year old information! Much has changed in 25 years. The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville originally envisioned 35 acres of the property to handle Counties waste only. They are now trying to expand the site and allow imported waste – from all over Ontario - into the dump! Residents of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville are opposed to the sale. These residents have formed a coalition called Citizens Against the ED-19 Dump, to oppose the sale of ED-19. Sign this petition to show that you are against ED-19!
