Odisha, often referred to as the soul of India, is a mystical land filled with inspiring monuments, craftsmen, artisans, various wildlife sanctuaries and beautiful landscapes. It houses over 700 Shiva temples solely in Bhubaneswar, the capital.
However, over 65 lakh families in Odisha do not have a toilet in their homes. 72% of the state population is yet to have access to toilets. The 2011 Census stated that an overwhelming 49.6 per cent of the State’s households do not have any kind of bathing facility and about 1.7 lakh households (48.33%) or 8.5 lakh people of the slums defecate in the open. Unsafe sanitation conditions adversely affect the urban poor, women and children.
Join the movement to redefine the sanitation and cleanliness quotient of Odisha. Sign this petition and put a stop to open defecation!
