Assam boasts some of the most highly regarded cultural heritages in the country. While east India is considered as the heaven for backpackers, Assam particularly attracts millions of tourists every year, especially since the Kaziranga Wild Life Sanctuary gained the status of World Heritage Site. The state boasts many temples and religious places open for exploration. To maintain its worthiness of being a state that is rich in culture and heritage and attracting tourists, clean toilets need to be installed in public places.

Currently, in rural Assam, women of 40.4% households with no toilet have to manage with the traditional system of open defecation in their back yards of homes, river banks or other secluded areas. Such unhygienic practices can lead to lot of diseases and unhealthy sanitation.

Let’s plan more meticulously and clean Assam up to make it the Swachh Tourist Destination. Sign this petition to bring about the change!
