Why this petition matters

Started by Tess House

Circular Head with a population of just over 8,000 people offers nothing new and exciting for its growing families. We are calling out to all Circular Head members for them to rally behind our council to show support for the construction of a sealed pump track in our community. The most suitable location is thought to be at the West Esplanade as there is a toilet, BBQ’s and a playground already there to be utilised.

A pump track is a series of rollers and berms (the rollers are the bumps or small hills in the track, and the berms are the corners). The idea is that you are able to get enough momentum (the pumping up and down over the rollers and berms) to ride the track without the need to pedal.

The design of the pump track would allow accessibility to all age groups from our young children, youths and right through to the older folk and being a sealed track it would also accommodate for our wheelchair bound community members. The Pump Track is multiple use as scooters and skateboards would also be able to utilise the track.
A pump track allows our children and families an opportunity to get active with any level of skill, no diversity and exclusion involved and importantly a chance to engage together as a community. Let’s not let Circular Head be left behind, there are countless other Tasmanian councils who have provided their communities with new exciting facilities, let’s see ours do the same!
