Recently, Principles of CIMS decided to get rid of the Yondr phone pouch policy; therefore, implementing a new policy that the school takes phones despite the unsanitary factors and non-guaranteed safety of students personal belongings. This policy is proving to have a negative effect on the students. 

1. The policy makes the school unorganized. As CIMS students, you might have witnessed how the "lines" were after school. It's crowded; it's slow, people were skipping each other, security was screaming all over the place. To sum up, the lines were chaos.
2. The lines led to unsanitary problems. I think the school might have forgotten that we're still in the pandemic. COVID could be anywhere, and they're putting 200 kids in the same place.
3. There's a lot of cross-contamination from touching every single student's phone. A cell phone is scientifically proven to be ten times dirtier than a toilet seat, and that's dirty enough.
4. It isn't okay to do this to students, especially those who have jobs after school. We have to wait to get our phones back every day. This could make us late for the bus and train. It is time-consuming.
5. The school doesn't give us a reason to trust that our phone won't get stolen/damaged. Two people already got their phones stolen from just day one. How is the school taking our phones and not being held accountable for it?
6. Every student has a different schedule. Some have outdoor gym classes, and they had to walk up the 4th floor to get their phones. Unless you can teleport anywhere you want, you can tell this is very exhausting for them.
7. The school returns the phones back to students on the 3rd and 4th floor, during the last period. But there are still students who still have class at that time and it'll be hard for them to pass through the phone line. Because of that, some would be late to their class and it'll affect their grades negatively.
8. Schools should never be taking away students’ phones in the first place. Students deserve to use their phones during lunch, after school, and in case of emergencies.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  

This petition requests that the school develop a new way to deal with students' phones that are used during class instead of taking away everyone's phones. We don't want a situation where " one person ruins it for everyone " at CIMS. Most CIMS students are disciplined enough to know when to use their phones and when to not.
