South Africa has of recent elections experienced voter fatigue and has lacked attracting new voters besides millions being eligible for voting.

Many people believe their votes are not going to change anything, and this speaks to the lack of voter education on the side of the electoral commission and that of government.

Electoral education should not be just about teaching people about how to vote, it should extend to why it's important and how it affects their future.

It should start very early in kids' lives, we shouldn't wait until there are of voting age. It must become part of primary and even high school curriculum, learners should be able to write national exams about this important topic that will, later on, impact their lives.

A full understanding and appreciation of the voting system will help create a pool of responsible voters who will help build better South Africa through their votes. Currently, there is little or no voter education, attention is not fully given to this very important aspect of our lives. Voter education should not be left as a responsibility of political parties. Their job is to recruit and get more members not to educate.
