Am classed as disabled through injury and illness.
I fight for the 'right' of disabled and vulnerable people/residents in Church Stretton.
We need 'Universal Access' for disabled and vulnerable people at public venues in Church Stretton, Shropshire.
* The Church Stretton War Memorial, Longhills Road, Church Stretton, Shropshire. This War Memorial is only accessible via an active road (Longhills Road) to gain access to the only official set of steps. Disabled and Vulnerable people can not access these steps and it is a health and safety issue, negotiating the active road and the War Memorial steps. Wheelchair and Mobility Scooter users can not gain safe access to the War Memorial.
The War Memorial requires a safe level path and Universal Access for all.
* Public Town Council meetings that are held at the Silvester Horne Institute, High Street, Church Stretton, Shropshire. At the present time, the Church Stretton Town Council, holds its public town council meetings in the Council Chambers, on the first floor of the Silvester Horne Institute, High Street, Church Stretton. The only access to the Council Chambers is via a staircase. There is no elevator or disabled lift from the ground floor to the first floor. On the first floor there is no disabled toilet.
We need to persuade the Church Stretton Town Council to have the public town council meetings permanently on the ground floor of the Silvester Horne Institute.
We require a better understanding from the Church Stretton Town Council on disability issues and Universal Access.
