Church leaders: Let's toll the #BellsForAleppo

Let's send a message of solidarity to the people of Aleppo from around the world.
The Syrian city of Aleppo is a living hell. The east of the city is under constant heavy bombardment from the Syrian regime and Russia. A quarter of a million people, including more than 100,000 children, are trapped here under siege. Hospitals, health workers and rescue teams are targeted.
We need to protest against these violations, to mourn the victims, and to call for an immediate end to the atrocities.
When I read that churches across Finland have started tolling their bells at 5pm every day in solidarity with Aleppo, I was moved to suggest a similar bell-ringing in my local church of St. Mary the Virgin in Westwood in Wiltshire.
Join me in calling upon the Archbishop of Canterbury Most Revd Justin Welby and other Christian leaders to encourage churches across the UK and around the world to toll their bells for Aleppo at 5pm on Fridays until the violence ends.
We need to send a message to the people of Aleppo that we remember them. And we need to send a message to the world that the bombardment must cease.
