Church is ESSENTIAL!
Church is ESSENTIAL!
It is beyond common sense that churches have been placed into the non-essential category for ‘returning to normal’ during the lockdown period. For people of faith and those searching, church is not only ESSENTIAL but VITAL in recovering both spiritually and emotionally from the corona virus.
Churches not only provide strength, comfort and security to people, they also navigate people through the most difficult times of their lives, many of whom are going through that right now!
Church is a community for people who come together from all walks of life who right now are being denied their basic right to worship freely and peacefully. Unlike supermarkets that are allowed to have thousands of people through their doors on a daily basis, churches have been denied the right to allow people to use their church buildings even though they have the ability to meet all social distancing rules.
This is an unlawful restriction. Churches MUST have the right to open their doors and NOT be classed as non-essential, in fact churches are the most essential and necessary institutions that our towns and cities need right now, both pastors and ministers up and down our country have been denied their right to do their jobs effectively within the community, hospitals and prisons.
To effectively ‘ban’ church gatherings, calling them ‘illegal’ and not allowing church doors to open to worshippers is shocking and we cannot stand back and allow our government to treat us in this way. We MUST demand that church doors be allowed to open without anymore delay! In a recent poll 54% of the nation classed themselves as Christians and whilst online church may be effective, there is no replacement for the gathering of the church body together.
Putting social distancing rules in place, having hand washing and hand sanitising stations available, having a one way system for people to enter and exit the churches safely means there is NO reason why churches should remain closed. If supermarkets who only provide physical food can open then the church which provides much needed spiritual food should be classed by our government as essential and allowed to open without further delay.
