when trying to cross Belmont at this point, one can stand at the corner for a full 10 min and NO driver will stop.

My neighbor has been hit by a car driving too fast and killed a couple of weeks ago. And I see animal got hit multiple times, and feel scared to cross back and force from my apartment side to the other side of the street at all time.

This was such a devastating story. My sincerest condolences to Mr. Richards' wife, and dog. This dangerous intersection and this Belmont road is like a roller coaster ride for cars driving up and down it. It is treated like a racetrack by many loud and careless drivers. A raccoon was also killed on this road and someone moved it onto the sidewalk a few weeks prior to this accident. I was so upset that I stood on the sidewalk on Belmont holding a cardboard sign that read, "SLOW DOWN" and the sign had an arrow pointing at the dead raccoon laying there. Some people flipped me off and only drove faster up/down the hill and ignored the dead raccoon. Others showed their sadness and slowed down to look at the raccoon. After a couple of hours I got really tired and I taped the sign around a tree, and left to return to my apartment. The sign remained there for several weeks, as nobody removed it. And, ironically, I noticed it was gone about 3 days prior to the death of Max Richards (RIP). I have photos of the sign and the dead raccoon. SDOT must put a speed bump, flashing lights, crosswalk and/or a light at this intersection, it is so urgently needed!

Thank you for putting together this petition!

I cross this intersection to get to the 47 bus stop almost daily. Cars do not yield here. There really needs to be a sign

I live next to this intersection and regularly witness unsafe driving along Belmont Ave. The morning of the accident was tragic for all of us. Please install basic infrastructure (crosswalk and signs) to keep people safe.

I use this dangerous crossing regularly and am reminded that we needlessly lost a neighbor here due in part to no designated markings!
