Concerned Derry Township Residents started this petition to Township Manager Christopher Christman

The Hershey Community Center project has been fully approved by the Derry Township Board of Supervisors, the construction contracts have been signed, the first half of the bonds have been issued and the project is funded.  All that is required is for the Township Manager, Christopher Christman, to give the contractor a Notice To Proceed.  Mr. Christman has inexplicably paused the project even though he does not have a majority of the Board advising him to do so.  He is compelled to follow the action of the Board of Supervisors from December of 2019 and honor the construction contracts before the Township is in default.

Should this project not proceed as designed, there will be months if not years of delay, very expensive litigation to unwind contracts, hundreds of thousands of dollars in added costs of redesign, redesigns that will likely lead to much higher annual operating deficits, tens of thousands of dollars to reopen the current outdoor pool with no guarantee that it will be done in time, potential loss of grants and capital campaign money, and potentially millions of additional dollars associated with the risk of rebidding the project. Further, the Township's project team has concerns that there may not even be bidders that will be willing to bid the project a third time. In addition, now that the project has been delayed, it is questionable whether the new outdoor pool will be open for the 2021 summer season.  There is no reason why this project should not proceed immediately!
