Don't eliminate Greenside's natural space with high density development

0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!

This petition is for residents and visitors to Surrey BC who are concerned about the proposed development of the natural area in the centre of Greenside Estates (development proposal file# 7915-0393-00).

Residents walk their dogs in the natural area, play with their children, and watch the ducks in the duck pond. Building 650 units into that 6.4 hectare area will destroy this much needed natural space and detract from the livability of the area.

Even those who do not directly enjoy the natural area or pond will be affected by this proposed development. Traffic and congestion of the adjacent 60th Avenue, 192 Street, and Fraser Highway will surely worsen. Parents of students who attend Latimer Road Elementary or Clayton Heights Secondary have reason for concern, because of the potential for overcrowding in those schools.

Any development should be restricted to far fewer units, and limited to the portion of the green area that is closest to Fraser Highway so it doesn't interfere with the pond and maintains a significant park area for both existing and new residents.

If you are a resident of Surrey, please sign this petition and let Chris Wilcott (City of Surrey) at 604-598-5771 or Christopher.Wilcott@surrey.ca know that you don't want this development.

There will also be an informational session at www.fraserand192.com on May 6 2020 from 10-11 AM.
