STOP the Barrington/Milton Street Liquor Store. Stop the grant of an 'off-licence'.
This petition made change with 321 supporters!
An application has been made to the Direct Licensing Committee for an ‘Off-Licence’ at 238 Barrington Street (corner of Barrington/Milton Streets).
This application requests the sale of alcohol at this new liquor store between the hours of 9am – 10pm, Monday to Sunday.
This petition has been created by concerned local residents and shop owners to protest against this new liquor store and the request for a license.
The main objections to this proposal are:
- This community and local area does not need a new liquor store – Super Liquor Barrington/Freshchoice Supermarket are both approximately 200m away from this location;
- There are also a high number of other liquor stores within local postcodes;
- It will negatively impact the local businesses neighbouring the proposed location – with a potential increase in vandalism/late night incidents and a rise in traffic and parking issues;
- It will negatively impact the local community – with concerns around safety and the potential increase in crime especially at night;
We do not need a liquor store at this location and we object against the request for an off-licence.
