Zebra Crossing on lower end of Barrack Road, Christchurch, Dorset, UK

There are four unmarked crossing points at the lower end of Barrack road, none of which are marked in any way.  This presents a danger to people crossing, in particular the young and infirm, considering this is a main walking route to both schools and the town centre.

Christchurch Council have installed a controlled crossing point at the junction of Stour road, but this is inefficient and an inappropriate place to cross right on the road’s most busy junction.  At times, it can take over 5 minutes to wait for signals to change.

The lower end of the road has seen multiple accidents and deaths, since traffic seem to be unaware that this is a 30mph zone.

Why should a few white lines in the road be so out of reach for this important crossing area?

Please sign this petition to demonstrate how the local community feel about this dangerous situation.
