For a few years now, drivers, especially the boy racer type, have been speeding up and down Everest road, Christchurch for years. Everest road is on of the main roads through somerford estate and one which children, young adults and teenagers are often located. Children often play in the streets, ride their bikes and hang with friends, adults are often seen with children in pushchairs or just walking and many young families live on this road. One young person has been killed by a speeding driver, another was knocked over and seriously injured and just recently (20/06/2017) a young driver was speeding on this road, lost control, hit a tree and flipped his car. It was extremely lucky that no cars were coming the opposite direction or that nobody was out on their bicycles or seriously hurt. The speeding needs to stop before more people are killed, therefore I suggest either a speed camera in both directions, or speed bumps all through Everest road. I have a young son and my property is on the bend of Everest road to which we would not be seen by a speeding driver until the last minute if we were crossing. Something needs to be done about this and I hope it will be done sooner rather than later. Let's slow these speeding drivers and keep our friends and families safe.
