Give Irvington's four-legged friends a place to run and play.

I would like to bring a fenced dog park to Irvington's Ellenberger Park. It is a wonderful location that already boasts a swimming pool, a playground, tennis courts, a football field and a baseball diamond, essentially everything for the whole family, except for our four-legged friends.
What I'm proposing is a setting aside a portion of the park, away from the pool and playground, for a fenced-in area that our dogs could be free to explore. Much like Broad Ripple's "Bark Park", there would be rules, guidelines, and etiquette standards posted all around the perimeter of the fenced area to ensure the safety and standards are being upheld.
No longer will patrons of the park fret, worry or be frightened by an off-leash pet because if they're safely contained inside a gated fence. Hopefully dog owners will no longer resort to using the tennis court's as an impromptu kennel, only to have their pets defecate inside and leave it for some poor tennis shoe to discover. Let your dog run, jump, and play, working out some of that boundless energy, but in a safe, contained space.
