On May 1st, 2020 Gov. Chris Sununu extended New Hampshires stay-at-home order to May 31st,  with restrictions being removed slowly. Such restrictions being removed allow access to public and private golf courses on May 11th, which will be limited to NH residents and private club members. Effective immediately is the opening of interior state parks and campgrounds, also limited to NH residents. Seacoast State Beaches remain closed. Sununu emphasized that keeping state beaches closed will reduce the influx of tourists coming from infected areas in Massachusetts. Why not open state beaches to NH residents only? Just like what is being done for campgrounds and interior state parks. Restaurants are allowed to have outdoor dinning with groups staying distant of one another. Why can't the same go for our beaches? Residents pay for the amenities of this town and deserve the right to go on public land and in the ocean.

The Public Trust Doctrine in New Hampshire states: "The State of New Hampshire holds in trust all the public waters, including all natural lakes and ponds of ten acres or more in size, navigable rivers, and tidal waters for the use and benefit of the people of the state. Public waters can be used for a variety of uses, including boating, fishing, swimming, and “other lawful and useful purposes”.

The ocean is not private property and we should not have to fight for our freedom and rights to go in the ocean and be on the beach.
