Heller Whitman started this petition to Chris Sammons (Principal of West Island School)

If you are viewing this petition I assume most of you are familiar with its circumstances, a teacher put herself in a dangerous position but her situation was resolved quickly. She is no longer in harm.

We cannot be sure about the identity of the teacher or the reasons behind her decision, meaningless speculation will bring us nowhere and will only spread rumors at the sake of others. This petition is created in response to that claim. We cannot be sure of the exact motives behind her incident but, regardless, a number of petitions have been created asking for the firing/leaving of certain teachers.

What we can be sure about is that our Mental Health services are not up to a standard. If teachers are endangering themselves then how can we trust them to educate students on these very dangers. What we need is reform, school-wide. I do not know explicitly but hopefully this petition would spur the possibility that allows teachers and students to work together on these issues. Many students have been complaining about the mental health initiatives, which in their opinion are pointless and contribute nothing. Everybody wants change and we need it. The system has obviously not worked.

If you're a student either unhappy with the current state of mental health in our school I urge you to sign. Previously, despite the word of teachers, student voice contributes very little and most students can see this. We obviously need something different and this petition hopes to achieve that
