Maori children across New Zealand tend to feel disconnected with their culture. This is due to the lack of education around Maori culture in schools. Attending schools that brush over Maori language, history and Tikanga cause a block between children and knowledge of their culture. Government plans to re-evaluate and create a new history curriculum that incorporates a deeper look into Maori history but history is not the only thing that makes up Maori Culture. We want not only Maori children but children all over New Zealand to be able to learn Maori culture to its full and beautiful extent.
