We the undersigned urge Chris Hayes, on his MSNBC show All In with Chris Hayes, to regularly feature Medea Benjamin, co-founder of CODEPINK, noted human rights activist and author, for commentary on the U.S. involvement in political, military, economic and human rights developments in the Middle East. Ms. Benjamin’s Inside Iran: The Real History of Politics of the Islamic Republic of Iran has just been published by OR Books, the latest of her 10 books. She is also the author of Kingdom of the Unjust: Behind the U.S.–Saudi Connection. She has visited Yemen, Iran, Bahrain, Egypt, Israel, the West Bank, Gaza and Pakistan in support of human rights workers there.
In 2017 she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. She received the Gandhi Peace Award in 2014, the US Peace Memorial Prize in 2012, and the 2010 Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Prize from the Fellowship of Reconciliation. She is a former economist and nutritionist with the United Nations and World Health Organization.
We believe that Ms. Benjamin’s unique perspective is absolutely essential to informing American public opinion in this perilous time and that she most certainly will attract more women and progressive viewers to All In with Chris Hayes.
