"Former law lord says 3,500 prisoners behind bars longer than necessary Lord Lloyd urges justice secretary Chris Grayling to speed up release of inmates after scrapping of indefinite IPP sentences" Karl Thomas was sent to prison 7 years ago on an indeterminate sentence for public protection, his tariff was 2 years 14 days. This sentence basically means you will never be released until they decide you are fit to be released into the community. The sentence was considered so horrendous that it is no longer given to prisoners, but over 3,000 prisoners remain in jail with no hope of being released for years. Nearly all of them have committed offences which would not normally merit more than 1 or 2 years in prison, but they are effectively serving life sentences. Karl committed a burglary and still has not been released. Karl is an intelligent and well liked young man who has paid his debt to society and should now be released along with the others.

If you are against injustice and inhumane treatment of prisoners with no hope of released due to the fact they have no set date for release please sign this petition.

By signing this, you can help to support the release of over 3,000 people who are trapped in this inhumane system which is a blight on a so called "civilised" society.
