Put a resource officer in Lowellville Schools

The number one mission of our community should be to ensure our children’s safety.  No parent should ever have to worry about their children’s safety when sending them to school.  We have one building in our district that sits secluded and unprotected through the day.  Our village is small and so is our police department and most times there is only one officer on duty for the entire village which includes our only school of over 600 children.    Mutual aid from surrounding departments would take 5-10 minutes at best if their units are available.

Putting an armed officer inside the building during school hours should be a top priority.  The community needs to speak and be heard on this issue and we need to take immediate action to have an officer placed in that school full time.  One horrific incident has the ability to wipe out the youth of our community and the “it won’t happen here” mentality is gambling with the lives of hundreds of innocent children.

I will leave you with this any board member who states there is no money or value in hiring a full-time officer should resign their position immediately as they are in dereliction of their duty to keep all the children safe inside the district they represent.  This is not the first time this issue has been brought up and after hearing comments that have been made by board members around this issue I am actually appalled.  So make no mistake this picture above is the people that are responsible for NOT having a full time officer in the school currently.
