Yarra Valley Water - please do not build a sewerage recycling plant at Eram Park, the parklands are visited by people from around the area as well as community and sports groups.
Eram Park is a peaceful and open green space in an area where there are few open green spaces in urban Box Hill North, which is utilised by people of all ages and backgrounds from the surrounding areas. The park and creek also has a diverse ecosystem, being home to native plants and animals. The proposed site for the sewerage recycling plant is near the Koonung Creek, loved and valued by locals and visitors.
The proposed building can never blend into the parklands that has been set aside to enhance the quality of life of local residents and visitors. The enjoyment by users of the park will be adversely affected should the proposed sewerage recycling plant be built at Eram Park ,which is essentially a much needed open green community space. There is a network of paths which are used on a daily basis by children, walkers, picnickers, community groups, dog walkers, joggers and bike-riders.
We are also concerned about the risk that our park will be contaminated with unpleasant odours, noise pollution and possible leaks/spillages into Koonung Creek. Another area of concern is that if the North East Link Authority goes ahead with the ‘Option A’ proposal and Yarra Valley Water (YVW) builds the proposed sewage plant in Eram Park, the public will lose even more parklands in the area!
Our park must not be spoilt with noise, air, visual and water pollution, we don't want a sewerage recycling plant in Eram Park!
